The 32 Battalion CRPF, conducted fogging programme in Awang bazar, New Cannan, Louchungbung, Kha Aimol, Tokpa, Upper and lower Komkeirap to protect the villagers against mosquito borne diseases like malaria, Japanese Enchephalitis, Dengue etc in light of the incessant rains particularly in Churachandpur district, conveyed a press release issued by the PRO, 32 Bn CRPF. The villagers appreciated the efforts of the 32 Battalion CRPF, it added.

Committee urges

The Thangal General Sagei Committee has urged the authority concerned to maintain the statue of Thangal General situated at the traffic island of RDS crossing, Palace Gate. A press release issued today by the general secretary of the committee stated that the statue was constructed by the Government of Manipur in 2009 as a mark of respect and in memory of Thangal General, a hero and patriot who sacrificed his life for the freedom of Manipur. It further explained that the people of the State worship the statue on August 13 (Patriot’s Day) every year and the structure is visited by locals as well as tourists during Sangai festival and other religious festivals and as such the site needs proper maintenance and beautification work.

Kohima, Jul 22 :The political upheaval continues in Nagaland. After Chief Minister TR Zeliang won vote of confidence on the floor yesterday, the Naga People’s Front has expelled 19 of its MLAs and suspended 10 others.
These MLAs had demanded resignation of the NPF president and former Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu, who failed to turn up to prove majority in the Nagaland Assembly on July 19. Following this, Liezietsu Government was dismissed.

IMPHAL, Jul 22: A combined team of Tengnoupal district police and Thoubal commando carried out cordon and house to house search operation at seven villages under Tengnoupal police station today. According to police source, the operation was conducted by a combined team of Tengnoupal district police under the supervision of SP Tengnoupal S Ibomcha and assisted by Thoubal commando led by DSP Thoubal commando, Y Premjit. The operation started from 2 pm and continued till 4.30 pm and covered seven villages under Tengnoupal police station namely Chingnunghut, Khunjai, Kombiri, Satu, Khomdamphai, Ngairong Aimol village and Aimol Khullen.
No one was detained during the search operation.

IMPHAL, Jul 22: A cleanliness social service camp was held yesterday at BT Park under the aegis of IOC Limited, LPG distributors/transporters and petrol pump owners with the primary objective of keeping public places and surrounding areas neat and clean. Talking about the cleanliness drive, IOC’s Imphal Divisional Retail Sales office Deputy General Manager and State Level Coordinator Sinam Ibungoton said that the cleanliness drive is a 15-day programme.
In the course of the cleanliness drive which would continue till July 31, painting and quiz competitions would be held in schools and colleges, he added.
