Imphal, Jul 30: As part of its 45th Raising Day celebration, the Autonomous District Council Senapati is organising the first ever state-level open, two-day indigenous wrestling championship with support from the Government of Manipur at the mini stadium of the district. The champion-ship features 121 wrestlers from all over Manipur and is held in two categories: one under and another above 65kg.
Speaking as the chief guest, ML Markson, chairman, ADC Senapati, appreciated the Government of Manipur for helping organise the championship at the state level. Markson mentioned that it will help in preserving and promotion of dying traditional sports while adding that the ADC is committed to work for the welfare of the people.
The vice chairman of the ADC Senapati, Hingba John and all the district-level officers of Senapati also attended the opening function of the two-day sporting fest.
