MSPDCL employees start cease work at Thoubal

The outsource, Junior Technical Assistants and Computer Operators which is engaged as employees under MSPDLC Thoubal Division and working on daily wages at Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) locked down the gate of its office today at Thoubal Athokpam and started off their cease work strike.

The cease work was started in protest against the company for seeking new employees instead of promoting the status of its present employees to regular. 

The secretary of JAC-MSPDCL outsource, A. Milan said. “it was unfortunate how the company is inviting new candidates by releasing notifications instead of promoting its former employees, who had been working for a long time in the company, to regular status”. 

The former employees included many who were working for more than five years. Many of them had died during work by electrocution. The government has not provided any help of compensation for them. Above all, the outsource employees have been struggling against odds as their salaries are not being paid for the last 5-6 months, he added.

He further expressed that it would be an inhuman act to make the former employees who have been working for a long period of time in not getting the advantage for searching new jobs. The authorities concerned must draw their attention to the prevailing issue and cancel the notification to make the former employees as regular ones.
