People living in areas under Sugnu Assembly constituency, which has been flooded by the heavy rainfall since the past few days, are facing scarcity of drinking water. The locals have appealed to the government to immediately extend help.
At present, Chairel and Nungoo villages under Sugnu assembly constituency are lying submerged under water that reached up to waist level. Around 150 houses from both the villages including ponds for drinking water are all submerged. Paddy fields of around 200 hectares are also lying submerged.
The villagers are helpless to face the situation as the submerged paddy fields were recovering after they were being sown again since the recent flood that destroyed most of them. To add to their woes, the villagers are facing scarcity of drinking water. They have appealed to the government and NGOs to provide immediate help.
Meanwhile, the keirak Wabagai roadway at Wabgai Keirak is lying under water due to the flood caused by the overflowing of Sekmai river. It has affected the people in a large scale while travelling down the road. The locality came out in the morning today to assist the travellers passing by.
