Why have many Manipur tribal villages in general and Naga villages in particular been named by Meiteilon! For example, the legal name Thingba Khunou village has been named in Meitei language, but in its own original name it was and still is Shomai. What were the intentions and objectives of naming the non-Meitei villages inMeitei language? Naming the non-Meitei villages through Meiteilon was not out of ignorance and/or short-sightedness, rather there might have been some secret motif behind it. Its objective could be an attempt to meiteize all the villages in Manipur. Also naming the non-Meitei villages by the Meiteilon is a kind of derogatory act, illiberal, humiliation, deprivation of human rights and marginalization.
