Under the department of horticulture and soil conservation and department of agriculture, 24 progressive organic farmers and eight officials of the two departments left for Delhi to participate in the 19th Organic World Congress to be held from November 9-11 at Greater Noida.
In the flagging off ceremony of the farmers, director of department of horticulture and soil conservation, K. Kipgen said that this is the first time for the state farmers to get international exposure in organic farming.
In the world event, the farmers will showcase and promote potentials of organic produce of the state and will be a platform to share experiences, innovations and knowledge about organic world, said Kipgen.
The director also said that this will provide opportunities to attract investments on production and processing aspects and would play instrumental in building future market linkage of organic products of the state. The organic farmers will be benefitted with enhanced knowledge of quality organic products and information on its demand through the exposure, he added.
Ginger and turmeric, Kachai lemon, Chak hou, oranges are some of the state produce to be taken for the world meet, said Kipgen.
