Minister of forests & environment and horticulture & soil conservation, Thounaojam Shyamkumar, today attended the second day of the curtain raiser of Manipur Sangai festival, held at YICCL Ground, Keibul Lamjao, Bishnupur district.
Speaking on the sidelines of the function, minister Th. Shyamkumar appealed to all the sections of the society to protect plants, flowers and trees planted on the road median and the roadside. He urged one and all to refrain from harming plants and trees. Instead, he appealed for more plantations of trees and plants for a better environment as well as for beautification of the city.
With regard to the Manipur Sangai Festival 2017, he further mentioned that in this festival the rich art & culture, tradition, and beauty of the state would be showcased.
Th. Shyamkumar also appealed to the general public to accord warm hospitality to all the visitors and fully cooperate with the state government in making Sangai Festival a grand success.
