Lecture on “fundamental duties” held

The Article 51-A (fundamental duties) is the most ignored provision in the Indian Constitution when compare with fundamental rights, directive principles of state policy and other rights, said Justice, Kh. Nobin, High Court of Manipur.

He was speaking as presidium member during the one day lecture programme on “fundamental duties” by Supreme Court senior advocate, Gourab Banerji held today at the auditorium of the High Court of Manipur, Imphal.

As the Indian Constitution has given certain fundamental rights to the citizens there are also some fundamental duties to be follow as a citizen, he added.

In order to shape a well developed society people need to follow the 11 fundamental duties of the Indian Constitution, Nobin further added.

Acting chief justice, N. Kotiswar who also attended the function as presidium member said that it is a must for the legal fraternity to keep themselves updated on the latest development.

He expressed his gratitude to Gourab Banerji for taking up such initiative to give a lecture on “fundamental rights”.

During the function the official website of Manipur State Legal Services Authority was also launched and a cultural programme was conducted by students of Teaching Schools and Performing Centre, Imphal.
