IMPHAL, Jan 3: Department of Art & Culture released its yearly calendar at its office located at Palace Compound today.
The release function was graced by Commissioner (Art & Culture) Moirangthem Lakhsmikumar as chief guest; Director (Art & Culture) Dr K Sushila as president and Joint Director Lourembam Keshojit as guest of honour.
Speaking at the function, Lakhsmikumar said that the calendar focuses mainly on the yearly works taken up by the Department and the rich art and culture of the State.
Dr Sushila said the Department of Art & Culture has been releasing yearly calendar since 2016 with the objective of highlighting works and achievements of the Department.

IMPHAL, Jan 3: The People Action Committee against the brutal killing of Pravish Chanam has thanked all the people who supported and participated in the torch rally taken out yesterday and in the movement against the discrimination meted out towards the North East people.
The committee, in a press release extended solidarity to the six meira paibi leaders who headed for Delhi on January 1 to demand justice for Pravish Chanam, hand over the death case to CBI and to protect against the racial discrimination committed towards the North East people.
It appealed to all the local youth clubs, meira paibis, civil society organisations and colleges to organise a candle light protest in every nook and corner of the State in support of the six women leaders.
The committee further appealed to the people of the State and North East, who have been the victims of such discrimination in mainland India to cooperate with the ongoing movement.

IMPHAL, Jan 3: All Manipur Candidate 102 Fresh Batch Waiting List Candidate 2016 has fervently appealed to the State Government to declare results of the recruitment for police constable for waiting list candidates within this month.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Amom Dinesh, convenor of the candidates’ group said that the Home Department conducted a fresh recruitment for 2518 police constables of which the results was declared on November 7, 2017.
He said that a total of 251 candidates were put on the waiting list. He added that the waiting list candidates are apprehensive about their future due to non-declaration of the results.

IMPHAL, Jan 3: In yet another immediate assistance extended to locals in emergency situation, 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles provided critical medical aid to two locals whose vehicles moving from Ukhrul to Imphal lost control and met with an accident.
According to a press release from PRO IGAR (S), the accident took place near Lambi village today at around 2 pm. The injured individuals were rescued by locals and were brought to the unit hospital at Shangshak where they were given necessary first aid by the Regimental Medical Officer.
The locals belonging to Ukhrul district were later evacuated to Imphal for further treatment, it said.

IMPHAL, Jan 3: In order to generate greater awareness on upkeep and maintenance of their vehicles, an awareness workshop for local taxi drivers was conducted by 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) at Yaingangpokpi in Ukhrul district today, informed a press release of PRO IGAR (S).
The lecture was conducted with an aim to educate the Tata Magic drivers on the concept of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of their vehicles. A total of 25 drivers from neighboring villages attended the workshop wherein they were educated about the basic vehicle maintenance, use of clear fuel and measures to reduce pollution.
The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks given by the Company Commander of Yaingangpokpi post, with a message to comply with the road safety rules, it added.

The centre appealed to all the mentally retarded persons in the State to take part in the camp by bringing disability certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card and four passport photos.
In the camp, Manipur State Legal Services Authority and State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities will distribute booklets of Mental Health Act and PWS Act, 2017 to the participants.
