IMPHAL, July 12: The South Point School of Science, Imphal West defeated HM Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi in today’s first match of the state level U-17 Subroto Mukherjee football tournament being played at Khuman Lampak.
In other matches of the day, St. Peter’s School, Chandel defeated Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, Tamenglong by 5-1 goals, while Churachandpur district winner Phenjawl High School defeated Advance Learner’s School, Thoubal by 4-2 goals. In the fourth match of the day, UPC Boarding School, Bishnupur defeated Sardar Patel High School, Senapati by 5-1 goals.
Imphal West winner South Point School ride on solitary goal scored by N Olen in the 30th minute to get rid of Kangpokpi school.
In the second match, Chandel school had two its players namely N Peter and Rangam netting twice in the net while Renglun added another to total its score to five. In response, the Tamenglong school could score only a consolation goal scored by Meingam in the 50th minute of the match.
In the third match, Timothe Hmingchung scored two goals while Kamkhuallian and Laldawmang scored one goal each for the Phenjawl high school of Churachandpur while Th Sitaljit and Kh Naocha scored for the Thoubal school.
In the last match of the day, UPC Boarding school, Bishnupur took complete control of the match against their Senapati opponent, Sardar Patel High School as the match ended up in the former’s favour to 5-1 scoreline.
H Prabhakar, N Romesh and Ch Roshan scored one goal each while Abung scored two goals for the Bishnupur school.
The lone goal for the Senapati school was scored by D Nelil in the 44th minute.
