IMPHAL, March 24: The All Manipur Students`™ Union (AMSU) will be observing 35th Realisation Day (Meekap Thokpa Numit) to commemorate Potshangbam Lukhoi and Huidrom Loken who laid their lives during the student`™s movement in 1980 against the influx of non-locals and foreigners into the State.
This was stated today at a press conference held at AMSU headquarter by general secretary, Manjit Sarangthem.
He said that the observance of Realisation Day will start from April 3 as street corner meetings, class mobilization from Manipur University and other activities and on April 15, blood donation camp will be held at AMSU office.
On the Realisation Day on April 17, a rally will start from memorial site atop the Pishum Chingamacha till AMSU office, he said.
He further said that even though the movement cost two lives, till date the Government has failed to introduce any measure to address the problem.
He also said the Manipur Regulation of Visitors Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill Act 2015 was a fraud played on the people of Manipur. The act of the State Government is strongly condemned, he said.
