IMPHAL, June 22: The Congress government is trying to lure more Autonomous District Council elected members using money power by delaying the swearing in ceremony for the newly elected members, Naga People`™s Party Manipur Unit president N Awangbou told media persons today.
Awangbou also claimed that in Tamenglong district, the NPF and BJP have resolved to form a coalition council under the banner `Democratic Alliance of Tamenglong ADC`, which is in stark contrast to BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba`™s claim that the BJP will sit in Opposition benches in all ADCs.
Strongly condemning the Congress`™ delaying tactics, he said even though the ADC election results were declared on June 10, the Congress has failed to notify for administering oath to the newly elected members till today.
It is a well known fact that the voters have chose non-Congress district councils in almost all the hill districts, he said.
Despite the fact that they have been voted out, the Congress is still trying to buy some elected members by delaying announcement for formation of councils in Hill District of Manipur, alleged Awangbou.
`The State government is playing delaying tactics which tantamount to openly mocking of the democratic set up`, he said.
The voters in Tamenglong, Chandel, Senapati and Ukhrul district had given their mandate to non-Congress candidates, he said adding that NPF is ready to form non-Congress councils.
He said certain like-minded candidates and parties have also joined hands with the NPF to fulfill the aspirations and dreams of the people.
In Tamenglong district NPF and BJP have resolved to form coalition council under the banner `Democratic Alliance of Tamenglong ADC`.
`We have already claimed the stake through the Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong and we are waiting for the swearing in ceremony and invitation from the government to form the council` he asserted.
He also said that recently four Independent candidates have joined the NPF in Senapati district, while another four Independent candidates and a Congress candidate have also joined the party in Chandel district formally.
He appealed to the district administrators and the Governor to speed up the process of formation of district councils.
As for the seat sharing in Tamenglong between NPF and BJP in Tamenglong, the chairman and two executive members will be from NPF while the BJP will have the vice chairman and three executive members including Finance Committee convenor, informed a source.
