IMPHAL, August 1: The incessant rain over the past few days in the State has also affected Kasom Khullen Village as several cracks are appearing in the village some running through houses after landslides occurred in the village roads.
One of the cracks runs through the main road of the village dividing the road in two halves with the western side caving in 2 feet deep.
The walls of the village community hall are also severely damaged as the floor has sunken in. The inter village road connecting the village to the Good Shepherd Parish Centre has also been swept away by a landslide.
The road connecting the PHC and the Police Station also sunk in by about three feet.
The magnitude of the recent disaster has left the villagers panic-stricken as no disaster of such magnitude has ever occurred in the State.
A landslide also hit the houses neighbouring the village headman`™s home.
Altogether 19 structures including community hall, village authority office and private buildings have been affected, according to the local villagers.
Major landslides have also occurred in several places between Yeasom and Kasom Khullen.
A part of the road near Yeasom village has also completely caved in cutting off the Sub- Division from Imphal, according to reports.
A portion of road near Dolaebong (Nungshit Haibi) has been totally swept away including the water supply source of Kasom Khullen Head Quarter.
The village authority has also appealed to the concern authority to conduct spot assessment for immediate relief measures.
