Imphal. April 12 (NNN): As a definite step towards preventing cases of stealing of vehicles in the state, High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) has been introduced today by the chief secretary of Manipur DS Poonia in Imphal.
The chief secretary said at the function organised by the Department of Transport, government of Manipur and M/S Shimnit Utsch India Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai that the introducing of the HSRP in Manipur is a very important step towards preventing thefts of vehicles and also towards preventing the use of vehicles in illegal or criminal activities.
The principal secretary, transport and works, government of Manipur, Ram Muivah said that the people of the state can now prevent their vehcles from being stolen by anti-social elements, and even when stolen can be easily traced out with the help of the technology used in the HSRP.
Vehicle owners can get the HSRP from the office of the district transport officer by filling a customer application form which can be procured from the dealing assistant after paying the necessary fees. The vehicle owners will then be asked to come after two days during which necessary verification and processes for fitting the HSRP will be completed and the vehicle will be fitted with the HSRP at the district transport office and after that a vehicle registration certificate will be issued, it is reported.
Vehicles fitted with the HSRP can be traced of their movements and whereabouts by the transport office by which they can be traced out easily by the police even when they are lifted/stolen by anti-social elements.
