Imphal, Apr 12: Cheiraoba will be celebrated tomorrow. It marks the end of the Manipuri year and the next day the new year Shilenba will be observed.
Gurbachan Jagat said in a message, “It gives me great pleasure to greet the people of Manipur on the happy and auspicious occasion of’Cheiraoba’.
Cheiraoba symbolizes the advent of the new year and is a unique festival which every household celebrates with great enthusiasm in Manipur. As Cheiraoba is celebrated with a pure mind and body rekindling a new vista of life for a better tomorrow it is time to collectively work to destroy the dark forces in the society trying to disrupt the pace of progress and development in the State.
I, once again, convey my best wishes to all on this auspicious occasion.”
The president of Manipur Pradesh Congress committee and home minister greeted the people of Manipur particularly those Hindus on the happy and auspicious occasion of Cheiraoba.
He wished the festival the oneness among the MP, Dr. T. Meinya also wished all.
