Imphal, Apr 15: Polio Vaccine was administered to Children between 0-5 years in the state today.
The family welfare deptt. also opened a booth at the said office.
It may be mentioned here that the first round of polio vaccine was administered to the children on February 19.
Assam Rifles Units under HQ IGAR (South) participated in the National Intensified Pulse polio immunization programme in collaboration with the Health Department on 15 Apr 12 at their respective locations. A large number of children under the age of 5 years residing adjoining areas of AR Camps were administered oral polio drops and immunized against polio. 27 Assam Rifles, 17 Assam Rifles, 23 Assam Rifles, 9 Assam Rifles, 12 Assam Rifles, 35 Assam Rifles carried out intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Program (IPPI) on 15 Apr 2012 to the children under 05 years at Kakching, Somsai, Shanghshak, Moreh, Chassad and Sajik Tampak respectively.
10 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield Division, on 15 April 2012 conducted an Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Camp at Nonei. Wide publicity was given to facilitate the awareness of Polio to all the villages located in remote areas through announcements in the last 3 days. A total of 135 children below the age of 5 yrs were benefitted from this Immunization camp. The villagers were thankful to the Comdt of 10 Assam Rifles for the awareness created as also the help rendered by setting up this campaign to eradicate Polio.
Assam Rifles located at Maram and Jwalamukhi under the aegis of Red Shield Division organised second phase of Pulse Polio campaign for the year 2012 for the villagers of Senapati district. Five booths were established, one at various location at Senapati District. A total of 200 children below 5 years of age were immunised.
