Imphal, May 8 NNN: The cry demanding justice to Loitam Richard murder case gets louder every passing day in Manipur.
Cutting across community lines, agitation of different forms is climaxing.
On Tuesday, six students’ bodies including All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), DESAM, Kangleipak Students Association (KSA), Manipuri Students Federation (MSF), SWAK and SUK have submitted a strong worded memorandum to Manipur home minister G Gaikhangam demanding deliverance of justice to the murder case of Loitam Richard. The memorandum also advocated for the case of O Laaba, who was found death in a mysterious condition in Tamil Nadu last year. The memorandum was submitted to the state home minister as the chief minister is away in New Delhi currently.
The six students’ bodies also demanded that the racial profiling of North East people in the mainland India be stopped immediately. The students’ bodies then said that chief minister O Ibobi Singh is least bothered about the Richard murder case saying that even today he could not tell the public whether the culprits involved in Richard’s murder case are still at large or their whereabouts.
Demanding justice for the killings of Richard Loitam and Okram Laaba, six students’ organizations of Manipur organized a mass rally in Imphal on Monday.
Earlier, the All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) had strongly condemned on the murder of Loitam Richard.
It can be noted that on Monday, thousands of students took part in the mass rally which was organized by six frontal students’ organizations of Manipur to protest the lack of appropriate response from the state government to book the culprits involved in the killings of the two students who were studying outside Manipur in the states of Karnataka and Haryana.
The rally was a part of the series of actions announced by the students’ organizations to protest the suspicious deaths of the two students. It was jointly organized by All Manipur Students’ Organization (AMSU), Manipur Students Federation (MSF), Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) and Students’ Union of Kangleipak (SUK).
