CM’s chandel reception ceremony organised by MACA

The Maha Area Chiefs Association (MACA) today clarified that the reception ceremony of chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh in Chandel tomorrow is organised by MACA and not by Chandel unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as reported in local media.

The convener of the reception committee of CM in Chandel district, Stephen Ruwngkham in a press meet held at the Manipur Press Club, refuted that the report appeared in a local daily that reception ceremony of CM is organize by BJP Chandel Mandal was wrong and baseless.

He said that the efforts of MACA will be in vain if the reception is organised by the Chandel mandal as reported.

Stephen who is also the chairman of MACA urged the BJP Chandel Mandal to clarify on the matter prior to the scheduled reception ceremony failing which would result in low turnout.

The reception programme is organised for the chief minister who will be coming to the district for the first time after taking charge as the chief minister of the state.

The CM is going to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several infrastructure for the district headquarter including the 50-bedded hospital, United College science laboratory, Ima market among others.

Chief minister Biren’s visit to Chandel is a part of the “Go to hill” initiative started by the new government to bridge the gap between hills and valley.

This is going to be the second cabinet meeting in the hill districts after first cabinet meeting held at Churachandpur on July 14.

The reception ceremony will be held at Maha Union High School ground after the inauguration of Maha Union Girls’ Hostel. The chief minister will head for the cabinet meeting at DRDA Hall on 3 pm.
