All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Committee will be participating in the three-day nation-wide dharna to be held at New Delhi from November 9-12 to bring to government’s notice their set of demands.
Chairman of Coordinating Body of Trade Union Manipur, L. Sotinkumar said this in a press meet at its Irawat Bhawan office, that more than 100 workers from organised and unorganised sectors will be taking part in the event. He said that 70 persons have left for leaving Delhi today and the remaining will be going tomorrow.
The three-day country-wide dharna will highlight problems and difficulties faced by the workers of all sectors in the country.
The state delegates will address the current salary package of the workers to be increased and other certain schemes and facilities that the state has not enjoyed yet, he said.
Implementation of 7th Pay Commission for the government employees, to demand atleast 18,000 pay package for the workers, to enforce Highway Protection Force which is to keep a check on illegal tax collection are the main demands of the state unit, he said.
Altogether 12 agencies of trade unions will be participating in the dharna representing the around 80,000 workforce of the state.
The dharna was planned since August 8 at Talkotara stadium at the national level meeting of trade unions. The union is against the “pro-corporate, anti-national and anti-people policies introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi government” calling it affect the Indian economy as a whole.
