Government needs media for implementation of schemes: Jayantakumar

Health minister L. Jayantakumar today said that media is an important platform that the government cannot afford to ignore for successful implementation of their schemes and programmes to the public.

This was said in the inaugural function of Regional Orientation workshop for field officers on special outreach programme of central government flagship programmes on integrated campaign on ‘Mission Indradhanush, Mission Parivar Vikas, Tuberculosis and Leprosy.

Jayantakumar further stressed his speech saying that basic responsibilities of every government is the development of state or nation and its logical vision is generating good citizens.

Government has launched many health related schemes and facilities for its citizens to remain in good health, but many are not aware of it and for that it is the media to do the job, he cited.

He instilled the field publicity officers (FPOs) to disseminate right information to the public especially the far flung areas and remote areas of the state.

The health minister also demanded sincerity from the side of the nurses and doctors, and the cooperation of public and other responsible authorities to make every health mission of the government possible.

Regional director of DFP, Nagaland and Manipur region, Mangjangam Touthang presenting keynote address,  said that today’s workshop is to educate and equip the field officers of DFP on the all flagship programmes initiated by the health ministry and to enable field functionaries to fine-tune, for effective publicity campaign.

Highlighting the four different schemes, he said that under Intensified Indradhanush Mission (IMI), four consecutive immunization rounds will be conducted for 121 districts and 17 cities in 16 states and 52 districts in 8 north eastern states, every month between October 2017 and January 2018. Intensified Mission Indradhanush will cover low performing areas in the selected districts and urban areas, he added.

Mission Parivar Vikas, family planning initiative will focus on 146 high fertility districts in 7 states with high TFR ( Total fertility rate), Mangjangam noted. Under this, specific targeted initiatives shall be taken for population stabilisation through better services delivery.

Taking about TB, he said ensuring affordable and quality healthcare to the population is a priority for the government and it is also committed to end TB by 2025.

Resource persons from IMI, Mission Parikar Vikas, Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) and National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) came and gave lectures on their respective schemes.

Field officers from all districts of the state and from Nagaland came to attend the one-day workshop.
