Imphal. June 8MNS NNN : Former union minister Thounaojam Chaoba of Nambol assembly constituency,
Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh, ex-cabinet minister of Manipur from Lamsang assembly constituency and social worker from Langthabal assembly constituency and ex-general secretary of Manipur Peoples’ Party (MPP), Robin Blacky have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today in a simple reception ceremony at BJP office, Imphal.
Speaking at the reception function, the president of BJP, Manipur unit S. Shantikumar said that the admission of the three politicians will strengthen the party which will then enable it to correct the wrongs of the ruling Congress party, and makes the BJP a strong opposition party in Manipur.
The final process of enrollment of these politicians will be done after the BJP national president Nitin Gadkari’s visit to Imphal when the tentative programme of BJP for the Lok Sabha election will also be announced, said Shantikumar.
Giving his reason for joining the BJP of which he was the president from 2004-2006, Chaoba said that to fight a national political party like the Congress, one has to join a national party like the BJP, in order to fight the corruption and price hike of essential commodities made by the Congress party.
The organization secretary, North East in charge, BJP, Chandrasekhar Rao who was present at the function expressed the hope that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates from the North East will lead in the Lok Sabha election in 2014.
