Kolkata, June 10 : The Central Bureau Of Investigation has arrested a S.K. Satyarthi , Chief General Manager rank Officer of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) working in Telecom Factory, Kolkata Circle, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.3.25 lakh from the Complainant.
The complainant (a supplier) has alleged in his complaint that the accused was harassing him by getting his supplied materials and tender documents rejected on flimsy grounds. The accused was demanding money from him for doing his business smoothly within his jurisdiction.
CBI registered a case and laid a trap. The accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3.25 lakhs from the complainant at a hotel in Kolkata yesterday night.
In the follow up searches conducted at the residence of the accused, 15 passbooks in various names, 20 debit cards, various documents relating to investment, four gold biscuits etc. were found.
These are being scrutinized for further investigation.
The accused was produced today in the court of CJM Alipore, Kolkata and was remanded to judicial custody.
