Imphal, Oct 9 : : A BSF Deputy Commandant, a native of Nagaland was hurt in a bomb attack apparently carried out by militants at Luwangshangbam Mamang Leikai, a locality under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East on Tuesday.
Militants set off the remote control Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted on the roadside around 9:50 am close to Isar Oil Pump located near Luwangshangbam Haotabi along National Highway 2 as the convoy of 155 BSF got through it, wounding its Deputy Commandant named Lima Tensing Ao who was in a Bolero jeep, police sources said.
The BSF Deputy Commander suffered minor injuries in one of his limbs in the blast but not serious. He was taken to the unit hospital of a BSF camp stationed at Koirengei where he was treated.
The injured Deputy Commandant of the boarder guarding force’s 155 Battalion is based in Nagaland. The police also said the convoy was driving along the NH-2 towards Nagaland from Imphal when the attack occurred.
Meanwhile Discovering the presence of UG cadres in Lamjao, troops of 27 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) and Thoubal Police launched joint operation in the area and apprehended two PREPAK cadres on 08 Oct 12. The apprehendees were identified as E Priyo Singh alias Hemchand alias Nanao ,35 yrs,s/o E Hemanta Singh,r/o Lamjao Awang Leikai,Kakching and Mrs Naorem Memchoubi Devi alias Memchaobi,30 yrs,D/o N Ibo Singh,r/o Kakching Chumnang Leikai,Kakching. One .32 Pistol, three .32 mm live rounds, one Chinese hand grenades, three mobile phones with six SIM cards and two demand letters were recovered from the apprehendees who alongwith recoveries was handed over to Kakching police station.
In yet another incident, discovering the presence of UG cadres in Tangjeng, troops of 42 Assam Rifles and 28 Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR(S) along with Thoubal Police Commandos launched joint operation in the area and apprehended one KCP (Nayon) cadre from a Hyundai i10 car with Regn No MN 04 A 6579 on 08 Oct 12. The apprehendee was identified as No.303 SS Cpl Wahengbam Inao alias Nanao,31 yrs,s/o W Tomab,r/o Arong Khunou,Thoubal. He revealed that he had done training in 2005. One 9 mm Pistol with five live rounds were recovered from the apprehendee who alongwith recovery was handed over to Thoubal police station.
Security Forces under the aegis of Red Shield Division apprehended a 16 year old boy recruited and trained by PREPAK. The boy has been identified as Pukhrabarn Bungoton Singh, son of Pukhrabam Kumar Singh, resident of Kumbi Polo Ground. The boy was forcefully put through training on small arms and placing of IEDs by PREPAK at Thanan Camp in Myanmar. The boy has been handed over to the Kumbi Police.
In another operations troops of the Red Shield Division along with Imphal West Police Commandos apprehended a terrorist of ZUF. The apprehendee was involved in the firing incident of the SF near Pinjang village on 06 Oct 12. The apprehendee has been identified as SS Private Latjanthai Malangmai alias Latjungbung son of Makhulung Malangmai resident of Happy Colony, Nonei Bazar. The individual has been handed over to Bishenpur Police Station.
