IMPHAL, Oct 18: A team of both the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and the Narcotics Cell, Imphal West today seized 105 grams of heroine worth Rs 10 lakhs in the international market and Rs 1 lakhs ten thousand in the local market when they intercepted a van.
The woman arrested with the drug has been identified as one Abem (33) w/o Md Sahidur of Hatta Minuthong, Imphal East.
The arrested woman was paraded before the media persons in the presence of SDPO of Imphal West, N Nimai.
Briefing the media persons, Inspector K Ranjit Singh, OC of Narcotics Cell, Imphal West disclosed that on a tip off that a woman carrying large quantity of heroine was traveling in a van bound towards Imphal from Moreh. Acting on the information, a team of SIU and Narcotic Cell, Imphal West kept a strict vigil and intercepted a van packed with detergent powders called E-Lan. Among one of the many packets of the same powder of E-Lan, a packet with the same name like other originals was found filled with heroine till the indicated level.
