IMPHAL, Feb 12: Illeng (Bamreklong) Students` Union (ISU) and Illeng Village Authority jointly celebrated the silver jubilee celebration of ISU at Tamenglong district`s Illeng Church Compound on Sunday.
According to a release of the ISU, social worker Wilubou Newmai, who attended the function as guest of honour, said that the country urgently needs people who can lead in bringing social change and taking it forward, and urged the students to free themselves from opportunism and vested interest.
Col Dinesh Singh of Dogra Regiment, who attended as the chief guest, motivated the local youths to participate in competitive examinations, sport activities and to join armed forces, the release said.
He also appealed the youths to stay away from intoxicants and drugs, it added.
