DIMAPUR, Feb 16 NNN: Troops of 31 Assam Rifles recovered one country made pistol with a magazine, 4 live rounds of pistol, one single barrel 12 Bore Gun, 10 live cartridges of 12 Bore Gun and 13 country made bombs from an abandoned house in Yaongyimsen village of Mokokchung district of Nagaland yesterday morning.
According to an Assam Rifles source, NSCN-IM cadre identified as one ‘major’ Nungsangmanen was responsible for the hiding of these arms and ammunition. The Assam Rifles also blamed the NSCN-IM cadre for the Yaongyimsen village violence on Thursday and Friday.
The Assam Rifles source added that Nungsangmanen was arrested on February 12 but granted bail two days latter.
Meanwhile, based on specific information of transaction of counterfeit Indian currency in Dimapur, 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQs 6 Sector launched an operation at Purana Bazar area and apprehended Singnay Khim of Noklak village, Tuensang district with fake Indian currency of Rs.8200 which was being carried in a Maruit 800 car.
The individual along with the seized fake currency was handed over to the East Police Station, Dimapur, the Assam Rifles source said.
