IMPHAL, May 13: Representatives of various civil society groups are continuing to keep up the pressure with regard with police inaction over the incident of firing on child rights activist, Mala Lisham which took place on May 4.

Addressing a press conference at the Manipur Press Club, Banty Golmei President of the Rongmei Lu Pham Assam, Manipur And Nagaland said that the organization condemns the attempt on the life of Mala Lisham by Md Basir Ahmad, son of Rihimuddin of Heiyangthang who is working as a constable in the Narcotics department. 

She further added that the organization along with other civil society organizations will stage a protest when the accused person is produced before the Chief judicial magistrate Thoubal on 15 May.

Banty Golmei  claimed that the state government has failed to file any charge sheet against the various crimes being committed in the state in general and against women in particular. She also called upon the state Home department to look up into the matter seriously and give befitting punishment to the person (s) involved in the crime.

Representatives of Association for the Development of Indigenous Women and Child Care, All Manipur Muslim Women Development and Organisation, and Chingtam United Women Association who were present at the press meet also condemned the attack on Mala Lisham and affirmed their participation in the agitations.
