Imphal Jul 14 UNA : While opposition political parties in Manipur were on hectic efforts to field consensus candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Manipur to defeat ruling Congress candidates, Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP), one of the opposition parties in the state Assembly is campaigning for the Congress.
MSCP was among the 12 political parties which have decided to form a common platform to fight against Congress in the forthcoming elections to the Lok Sabha due next year. Others parties being BJP, CPI, CPI (M), MPP, NPF, JDU, JD (S), Pangal Political Forum, Bahujan Samaj Party, Shiv Sena and Forward Block.
Leaders of the party (MSCP) had even attended the last meeting of the opposition parties held on July 12 last that appointed president of Manipur unit of Janata Dal (United) M Tombi as the convener of the selection committee of consensus candidates of two Lok Sabha seats in Manipur for the opposition parties.
In contrast with the decision of the leaderships of the MSCP, two of the MLAs of MSCP who took part in a function held at Khundrakpam A/C in Imphal East appealed the voters to cast their votes
in favour of Congress candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections while spelling out various progress works being taken up in the state under Congress government.
The function related with the distribution of meritorious award was sponsored by Speaker of Manipur Assembly, Th Lokeshore who is a Congress.
MSCP MLA P Brojen guest of honour lauded the people of Khundrakpam for voting in favour of Congress candidate as their representative. He appealed to the people to vote for Congress candidate in future too.
Another MSCP legislator RK Imo who also attended as guest of honour at the same function during praised the Congress government in the state, highlighting various developmental works taken up in the state.
He said since Congress ruled the state for the last more than a decase many changes has been witnessed in the field of development.
He said the voters in the Khundrakpam assembly constituency were the most intelligent voters as they had rightly put up the right candidate.
