IMPHAL, January 27: Deputy Chief Minister Giakhangam has said that involving all the communities in the observation of birth or death anniversaries of martyrs who gave supreme sacrifice for the state will be the right decision while speaking at the 99th State Level Birth Anniversary celebrations of Freedom fighter Haipei Rani Gaidinliu at Gandhi Memorial Hall on January 26, organised by Kabui Mothers Association (KAMA), Manipur.

Addressing at the anniversary celebration as chief guest, he further expressed that to bring peace and harmony and turned the state into a prosperous state every citizen must be willing to sacrifice for the welfare of the state.

“Haipei Rani Gaidinliu had the ‘spirit of the divine against foreign rule’ and the movement that she started in the state was to give freedom and independence from the British Rule.

Meanwhile, Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratan Kumar said that every citizens of the state have to discuss and know the struggle of her movement.

Every individual love their motherland. But martyrs surpass ordinary people in their love for the motherland, the sense of sacrifice and moral uprightness. Every citizen has to follow in their footsteps to make the state better, he added.

Assistant Professor, United College, Chandel, Dr Benjamin Gangmei dwelt at length on the life of Haipei Rani Gaidinliu and appealed  the people to follow her ideas.

General Secretary, KAMA, Ranjita Golmei urged the government to announce January 26 as state holiday and to erect a gain statue of Haipei Rani Gaidinliu at any traffic island  within zero kilometres of Imphal, and  to build a complex in her name at the heart of Imphal.
