LAMKA, April 7: The United People Front, UPF has strongly refuted a news report carried in an Imphal based local daily about the issue concerning the integrity of the front.
Speaking to media persons today, leaders of the front said the concern media had reported that the UPF and the KNO are threatening the public to vote for the Congress.
The leaders said it is totally baseless and concocted and not at all based on the truth.
“It is a fabricated and cooked up story by vested groups who want to spoil the cordial relation that exist among the tribal groups in Manipur,” they said.
They also said that the UPF had lifted its boycott of the Congress party but it doesn’t mean that it is supporting the party.
Admitting that they can’t speak on behalf of the other organization, be it the Kuki National Organization (KNO) , they say that it will be very unnatural for the UPF to support and force the people in the village to vote in favor of one party.
They also refuted that the outfits as reported were against the NPF considering it Naga-centric and that it should be defeated in the election.
