IMPHAL, April 25: The Longsai Village Authority called a press meet at Manipur Press Club today and alleged miscreants of damaging banana plantation of the Nungsai village on April 23 last.
The village authority also alleged that two passenger jeeps of the village were damaged and the drivers assaulted black and blue on April 24.
James Kamei, 28, son of Kumar Kamei of New Chekon, Lambulane who is one of the drivers said that when he reached Zaujangtek Kuki Village, people who were equipped with knife and other deadly tools attacked his jeep.
He said that the incident occurred in the morning of April 24 around 8:30.
Narrating his ordeal, he told that there were around 30 people in the arson and added that he had to run away from the scene.
In this regard, the Longsai Village Authority demanded booking the culprits and award befitting punishment to them.
The Longmai Village Authority, during the press meet, circulated an ultimatum to launch total bandh on Old Cachar Road with immediate effect until and unless culprits are booked by the concerned authority.
