Imphal, July 15: MLA L Ibomcha drew the attention of the House during zero hour demanding a detailed report from the State government on the recent assassination of ADC member Ngalangzar Malue, by an organisation currently under peace-talk with the Government of India.
Ibomcha said the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) is applicable only in Nagaland, not in Manipur.
But the State forces have captured eight cadres with arms and ammunitions from a ‘designated camp’ of the outit at Ukhrul district, he said, adding that although the action is commendable, it is a little too late.
Meanwhile during the question hour, Education minister M Okendro said that Meitei Mayek will be introduced from the 2015 HSLC examination and the required teachers will be recruited very soon.
Replying to a question from, MLA Th Shyamkumar that the government’s induction of Meitei Mayek in the school curriculum since 2005 to replace the Bengali script have failed, Okendra clarified that the Government has decided to introduce Meitei Mayek in the HSLC exam from 2015.
The minister said recruitment of the teachers will be completed through the Teachers’ Eligibility Test, TET, which was already conducted.
Being a transition period, the teachers must be specially trained to teach the subject to the students, he said.
Okendra maintained that a total of 6456 candidates appeared for the TET in Meitei Mayek of which 3960 were selected.
Meanwhile, I Hemochandra PHED minister replying to a question from MLA Th Shyamkumar said that 403 water supply schemes have been provided to the public for safe drinking water since 2012.
Hemochandra further said that at present the number of water supply schemes under construction is 367 in various places of Manipur.
As supplementary question, Th Shyamkumar asked whether Yambem and Moirangpurel areas of his constituency are included in the water supply scheme, as the people of these areas are facing water problem. In his reply, I Hemochandra assured that the areas will be included under the scheme after the Budget Session.
