IMPHAL, July 25: Responding to a question during the question hour in the House today, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has informed that Rs 34, 63,431 are collected per month on an average from 552 mobile towers installed by different companies in the State.
All the 552 mobile towers are provided power supply by the State government on the basis of requirement submitted by the Telecom Service Providers and its feasibility.
Responding to a supplementary question raised by Opposition leader Dr I Ibohalbi on the health hazards to people after the installation of these towers, Ibobi said that as of now the mobile towers are installed randomly without strictly following any guidelines on the distance to be maintained between one tower and another.
The government takes the matter seriously and won’t allow towers to be installed randomly after keeping in mind the health hazards, Ibobi added.
Service providers have to seek permission from the State government for installing towers and must maintain the regulated distance between one tower and another.
Responding to a question on the gruesome murder of Soram Prakeet, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam replied that five accused have been arrested. They are identified as Makak Nini Begam, 40, wife of Md Abdul Latif; Makak Inaocha Begam, 45, wife of Late Majaimuddin; Md Saruk alias Bottle alias Anjali,20, son of late Majaimuddin; Md Hafi Khan, 20, son of Md Jabar Khan of Heingang Khong Imphal East and Md Zauddin Khan alias Ethem Khan, 25, son of Md Salauddin of Heingang Chingya, Imphal East.
He said that they were arrested on July 22 at around 7:45 am from Heingang Khong village. They were arrested after the facts and circumstances leading to the murder were thoroughly investigated by cross examining 18 witnesses by the Investigating Officer of the Heingang Police Station.
Replying to a question raised by Trinamool Congress MLA Joykisan on when the construction of the Kill House will be completed, he said that the Kill House is a clandestine place of the police department where technical special operation forces will practise CI ops. The House is 70 percent complete and was targeted to be completed on October last year. However, as per report it will be completed by 13 or 14 October this year.
