BISHNUPUR, December 20: Demanding implementation of the 6th pay commission for the employees of the municipal councils of Manipur, staff of the Moirang Municipal Council has today organized a sit in protest in front of the their office as a part of the ongoing cease work strike.

During the sit in protest, Hemam Bimol, revenue inspector of the Moirang Municipal Council said to IFP that non implementation of 6th pay commission to the municipal council is an ill treatment of the staffs of the various municipal councils while it has been provided to other government employees of the state. He further demanded to treat all employees equally by the government of Manipur adding that the cease work strike will continue until and unless their demand is not fulfilled.

IMPHAL, December 20: The Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) has imposed a ban against tambola housie from December 31 of the current year.

According to a press release of the society, the banning of organising tambola housie has been made considering the present trend of organising tambola housie in the state by few individuals in their self interest of earning money by using non-functional registered organisations and also in view of the ongoing school examination across the state.

However, clubs and organisations which are actively functioning and working for the development of their locality can contact FREINDS to organise tambola housie when organising the said game.

JIRIBAM, December 20: A driver of an FCI truck ferrying food grains into the state capital from Jiribam has been kidnapped while another has been looted of his mobile and money along the National Highway 37, informed a reliable source.

Suspected Kuki militants waylaid the two trucks coming in close proximity towards Imphal from Jiribam during the wee hours this morning and kidnapped the driver of one while, leaving behind the other driver after robbing him of his belongings, informed the source.

The incident occurred in between Lhalnom Kuki Village and Old Keiphundai in Tousem of Tamenglong district along the national highway, the source informed.

The kidnapped driver has been identified as Chanambam Janeshore, 55 son of Ch Ibohal of Keinou Thongthak Leikai of Bishnupur and was driving Tata truck bearing regd no MN 01 7592, while the other driver has been identified as Ahongsabam Divison of the same locality as the kidnapped driver.

Divison was driving truck bearing regd no AS 01 EC 4968, when the incident happened.
