MOREH, July 11: As a part of its fumigation drive in Moreh town since July 5, the 31 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 26 Sector AR has today carried out a fogging and spraying of Malathion and Moskil at various areas of Moreh ward No. 9.  Since the launching of the fumigation drive on July 5, the 31 AR has carried out fogging and spraying at Moreh ward No. 2,3,4,5 and 9 till today.

IMPHAL, July 11: General secretary of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee, RK Shivachandra today distributed rice at a subsidized rate to flood victims of Keishamthong Assembly constituency for the second time. Each household was alloted 10 kilograms of rice at Rs 10 per kilogram. The rice distribution programmes were held at Elangbam Leikai, Haobam Marak, Ngangom leirak and other places in the constituency.

NEW DELHI, July 10 (AGENCY): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi again Sunday to discuss the imminent cabinet reshuffle, party sources said. They met on Saturday too.

Sunday`s will be their fourth meeting in three weeks.

According to a party source, the reshuffle will be effected the coming week, perhaps as early as Monday.

Congress sources said the big four ministers – Mukherjee, Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna – are unlikely to be touched though the initial thinking was to move out Krishna.

The reshuffle may see both Dinesh Trivedi and Mukul Roy of the Trinamool Congress continuing in the cabinet.

In his interaction with a group of editors June 29, Manmohan Singh said the cabinet reshuffle was a `work in progress`.

IMPHAL, July 10: Henglep Govt. High School, Churachandpur has emerged winner of the U-14 state level Subroto Mukherjee football tournament which concluded today at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

In the final played today, the CCPur school defeated Thoubal district winner Martin Grammar English school, Kakching.

The final score reads 2-0 in favour of the CCPur school.

Jesse Nganlemmang scored the opening goal in the 12th minute while Phungtanlian scored the second goal in the 40th minute.

Kamminsei, who is considered to be playmaker of the Henglep High School, was intrumental in both the goals. He contributed two perfect pass to affect the goals.

In the prize distribution function held after the final match, AMFA secretary L Ranjit Roy attended as chief guest while RC Sharma, former Dy. director YAS as president.

In the meantime, U-17 Subroto Mukherjee state level football tournament will kick start tomorrow at the same venue. Altogether 10 school are taking part in the tournament.

IMPHAL, July 11: Marking the Kang festival and sending a message of peace and prosperity a 10 km run was organised by 18 Sikh regiment under 9 Sector Assam Rifles – IGAR (S), Wangoi Police and the local youth clubs, today.

A statement issued by the PRO IGAR (S) said the run participated by a total of 500 children below fifteen years of age and over 400 youths of Wangoi area was flagged off from Hayanthang Bridge and concluded at the Mayalambi College.

The event was attended by commanding officer 18 Sikh regiment who was the chief guest.

Addl SP Pushpanjali, IPS and SDPO Singjmei Vikramjit also attended the event added the release.

Further according to the statement, the event was conducted under the three categories of men, women and children (under 15 years).

The run was followed by a prize distribution ceremony wherein fiv runnersfrom each categories received prizes which were distributed by CO 18 Sikh regiment and addl SP Pushpanjali.

Various consolation prizes were also distributed during the prize distribution ceremony, added the release.

IMPHAL, July 10: The Manipur Amateur Muaythai Council has named players who are to take part in the 11IFMA India National Muaythai Championship to be held at Hydrabad, Andhra Pradesh from August 5 to 7. 

Players selected in the sub-junior category are N Rahul, N Open, Laishram Bidyachandra, Golmei Nanao Kabui, T Loyangamba and Shamjetsabam Jims while those selected for the junior (male) category are Golmei Marempu Kabui, S Bobocha, H Chitaranjan, A Tondonba and I Chakhangamba.

Naorem Boynao will be lone competitor in the senior section while Jayaluxmi Yumnam will also take part in the women Thai Boxing competition.

IMPHAL, July 10: Bishnupur veteran Kabaddi team defeated Thoubal veteran Kabaddi team in final of the 1st Veteran Kabaddi tournament which concluded today at LYUC ground, Lourembam. 

In the final played today, Bishnupur team scored 42 points against 14 by Thoubal team.

The closing function of the tournament held after the final match was attended by social welfare minister N Loken as chief guest while Bishnupur SP Th Radheshyam was functional president.

N Loken gave away the winner’s trophy and cash prize of Rs 20,000 to Bishnupur team while the runners-up trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000 was distributed by Th Radheshyam to the Thoubal team.

IMPHAL, July 10: Continuing with its efforts to connect with local populace and to boost spirit of sportsmanship, the 28 Assam Rifles posted at Andro organised a friendly volleyball match today. 

The match was played between Seven Star Club of Ngariyan and Ngariyan village team.

After levelling at 2-2 set, the match was eventually won by the village team in the decider.

A large number of local populace came out to witness the exciting volleyball match, said a release.

IMPHAL, July 9: Henglep Govt. High School, Churachandpur will clash with Martin Grammar School, Thoubal in the final of the U-14 state level Subroto Mukherjee football tournament which is being underway at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

In the semi final matches played today, Henglep school defeated St. Peter English School, Chandel by 3-1 goals while Martin Grammar school overcame Nilamani English School, Mayang Imphal in the tie-break.

Henglep school took an early lead in the first semis as Phungtanlian netted in first goal of the match in the 3rd minute. However, the Chandel school managed to equalise in the 12th minute with Mowaragam scoring the equalising goal.

In the 29th minute, Phungtanlian scored again thereby putting the Henglep school ahead for the second time in the match. Henglep school managed to increase goal margin as Kamimsei scoring third goal of the match in the 39th minute.

In the second semis, Martin Grammar school, Thoubal and Nilamani English school were goaless during normal time and extra time. The match had to be decided via tie-breaker in which the Thoubal school emerged victorious.

In the tie-break, Martin Grammar school scored four goals while the Mayang Imphal school could convert only three from five spot kicks.

IMPHAL, July 9: Ace archer L Bombayla Devi of Manipur has qualified for the ensuing summer Olympic Games to be held in London, 2012.

She will be a member of the Indian Recurve Team in Archery in the London Olympic games.

A release of the Manipur Olympic Association said Bombayla qualified for the Olympic based on the performance made by her in the ongoing World Archery championship held in Turin, Italy.

Bombayla hail from Khurai Top Khongnangmakhong and she is the daughter of L Manglem.

The Manipur Olympic Association has expressed its happiness over Bombayla’s qualification for the London Olympic Games.

IMPHAL, July 9: Manipur will field a strong team of Swimmers and Water Polo of both boys and girls in the ensuing 38th junior national Aquatic championship, 2011 to be held at Bhopal, MP from August 5 to 9.

A release of the Manipur Swimming Association said altogether nine boys from the state will participate in various swimming events in the championship as also nine girls in different events.

IMPHAL, July: In what could be termed as a significant step towards promotion to games and sports in the state, Manipur government has enhanced the existing Diet Allowance of Rs 100 to Rs 200 per head per day.

The state youth affairs & sports department has effected an order in this regard on July 7. As per the order Diet Allowance at the rate of Rs 200 per head per day will be given to players and officials during the period of jurney and during the period of championship if the organising committee does not provide boarding and lodging.

The Manipur Olympic Association, in a statement, has hail government’s step to increase to Diet Allowance saying it was a wise step for the government towards promotion of games and sports in the state.

The MOA also inform all the concern officials of the state level associations to collect the notification copy from its office.

M Tarunkumar will be team manager while Ksh Naba will be Water Polo coach for the Manipur team.

The MSA inform all the concern team officials and players to report on July 11 at 3pm for non-residential coaching camp to be held at Khuman Lampak Swimming Pool.
