IMPHAL May 12: Announcing a rare feat of accomplishment, Andro MLA Th Syamkumar has promised the residents of Tulihan area that the water scarcity problems affecting the region will be solved by coming June.

The MLA while talking to mediapersons during the sideline of his visit said that the water supply scheme will be finished under a time schedule of two months and is set for inauguration on June 18. He said that the capacity of the reservoir will cater to at least ten thousand consumers, while adding that other such welfare schemes will be taken up within his constituency in the future also.

It maybe mentioned that a community hall which is the second largest in Andro was constructed at Angtha village within a time span of 25 days under the supervision of Th Syamkumar.

IMPHAL, May 12: Gangte CD Music Album titled `Aw Ganggam`™ is scheduled to be released on May14 at Chiengkawnpang Community Hall, Churachndpur at 2.30p.m., in a press release the album producer.

The album is a collection of eleven songs, composed in Gangte dialect and is crooned by a budding artist, PCL Thuoma and is a debut album of the said artist, it further added.

The release function will be graced by Pu Genneikhip Vaiphei, Executive Member, ADC/Churachandpur as Chief Guest, Pu S Kamsuanlun, Executive Member, ADC/Churachandpur as President and Pu HGangte, MFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Churachandpur as Guest of Honour.

IMPHAL May 12: The proscribed KCP(MC) in a press statement by Korouhanba, assistant secretary military affairs of the outfit warns the INC candidates cannot contest the upcoming municipal elections under the congress banner.

It further states that the 27 councilors and 54 members which will contest for the elections can be a representative of any political party beside the INC. If the aspiring candidates have to contest, then they must substantiate their claim through the media that they have no ties with the congress party.

The outfit warns of dire consequences if the warning is not heeded by the contestants. It says that the decision to boycott the congress was taken by the outfit`™s Central Security Council earlier ,and the armed wing Kangleipak Feengang Lanmee(KFL) has been issued orders to carry out the necessary actions in the regard.

Further, the outfit appeals to the general public to stay away from the political conferences or any event associated with the INC election campaign as unwanted incidents may occur .

IMPHAL, May 12: A one day Public Awareness Campaign on crossbreeding programme of the local cows through artificial insemination was conducted by Dr.Y.Rajendra Singh, Joint Director(Veterinary), Senapati , in association with the local leaders and public at community hall of Ramlung village, Senapati district on MAY11, stated a press release by the Veterinary dept of Senapati.

Resource persons of the dept made the local public aware of the importance of crossbreeding programme taken up by the Dept , to upgrade their unproductive cows by the use of exotic/crossbreed bull semen which would bring about enhancement in milk production, it added.

MOREH, May 12: The Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh, Kuki Students organization (KSO), Moreh Block, Kuki Women Union on Human Rights (KWUHR) in a drive conducted at different parts of Moreh seized banned narcotic substances and set them on fire in the presence of the public today.

The seized items includes Chakhu Chepna long (local name)/pipe smoke- 20 numbers, SP Tablet- 50pcs, Dispovan syringe- 7 numbers

IMPHL, May 11: 33 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Loktak Brigade, organized a free medical camp at Nongmaikhong for benefit of poor and needy villagers of the locality. During the camp more than 465 persons (Male 168, Female 189 and Children 107) were examined. Treatment and free medicines were distributed for diarrhoea, respiratory tract infections, viral fever, skin diseases, Malaria, arthralgias, myalgias etc. Three doctors including two lady doctors attended to the people, in a press released.
The medical camp also aimed at bringing awareness regarding prevention of HIV/AIDS. The camp was especially meant for people of Nongmaikhong including fishermen who do not have easy access to medical facilities, it further added.

IMPHL, May 11: The long drawn insurgency in the state over the past years has adversely affected the women & children the most. The economic status & independence of women has seen a sharp decline. A number of self help groups to improve the situation had sprung up over the past few years, however, the basics of functionary & knowledge to progress the idea ahead, was found wanting. With a view to enhance the economic status of rural women of Manipur in general & Churachandpur district in particular, the “Action for Women & Child Advancement (AWCA)” with its founder Ms Grace Zamnu, MDC had taken an initiative & organised a one day awareness training on Basics of Self Help Group to rural women of Churachandpur district on 11 May 11. The training event was jointly inaugurated by Brigadier Surendra Mehta, Commander 27 Sector AR & Mr Langkhanpao Guite, ADC Chairman, Churachandpur. There was a representation of 26 self help groups from the district in the training, in a press released.
The inaugural speech was given by the Commander. The training spanned over two sessions to include, “Invocation of the Self Help Groups(SHGs) & Training Programme”, viewing a documentary on SHGs & its importance, Book keeping & account balance, Credit & saving linkage to SHGs, Experience sharing, SHG for sustainable development of the rural people, & Discussion hour, it further added.

IMPHL, May 11: 16 MARATHA Light Infantry under LOGTAK Brigade, over the past one week has been instrumental in providing bulldozer efforts through 9 Engr Regt to connect the remote villages of Henglep Sub Division with NH-02.  The track which has been completed with the joint efforts of the local villagers from Ukha and surrounding area, fulfills a long standing aspiration of the villagers by providing connectivity across the Thangjing ridge.  The area in the past, due to its remoteness, inaccessibility and lack of development has been used for illegal Poppy & Ganja cultivation and for safe sanctuaries by insurgent groups .The new road will not only improve the security environment but will also pave way for more economic development of the area by providing more alternatives to the locals.  The help extended by the army has been welcomed wholeheartedly by the local chiefs association and the general public and they have volunteered to help in the maintenance of the road in the future, in a press released.

IMPHL, May 11: In a star studded event the stars of Manipur’s film world led by the likes of Bobbin and Gokul played a scintillating cricket match against the Army XI in Leimakhong on 08 May 11. The Stars comprised of Bobbin (C), Sadananda, Gokul, Amarjit, Tarun, Biju, Domba, Priyo, Raju, Brikram, Jotish and Tony, in a press released.
The Army XI comprised of Col Ajay Chowdhry, PRO Imphal, Lt Col AP Singh, Maj Anil, AGE & (C), Maj Jitender, Maj Shailesh, Lt Col Alok Gupta, Babloo Raj Kumar, Maj Harvinder, Capt Tarun, Capt Rajesh and eleven year old Abhijeet.
The Stars put up a fighting score of 160 runs for the Army XI to chase. The  Army XI did well to face the challenge and chased the score in 17.5 overs. The Star of the day was eleven year old Abhijeet who played exceedingly well and has proved to be an emerging All Rounder. The State can look forward to seeing more of him in the years ahead in the under 14 category. Abhijeet bowled four overs and took 03 wicket for 22 runs and then went on to score an unbeaten 44 runs for the Army XI. For this feat he was felicitated by the Army XI and given the man of the match award by both the teams, it further added.
