IMPHAL, May 7: The second excursion tour to Sendra Loktak project comprising of 62 students and eight teachers from various schools of Tamei was flagged off by the Battalion Commander, 10 DOGRA on May 6. The students will also visit the INA Museum at Moirang and other sightseeing places around Imphal during the two day trip. The educational cum fun tour was organised by 10 DOGRA under the aegis of Red Shield Division. The excursion will provide an opportunity to students studying in different schools at Tamei to expose themselves to the outside world learning and acquiring knowledge while having fun, added the release.The educational tour is one amongst the many events being organised by the Army to assist the student community. Recently the battalion has supported the Student Union, Tamei in organising their 3rd Fresher’s Social Function on April 30, the release further added.

IMPHAL, May 7: Former champion Nagaland Veteran Football Association has entered final of the 13th Challenge Cup veteran football tournament being held at Mapal Kangjeibung.This is second year in succession for the Nagaland team to enter final.In the first semi final played today at Mapal Kangjeibung Nagaland veteran team defeated IMVF, Heingang by 3-0. Lanusanen scored first goal for the Nagaland team to take the lead in the 13th minute.Ronthango increased the the lead for Nagaland as he netted in second goal for the team in the 44th minute.In the second half, Yambemo scored third goal for the team in the 55th minute thereby securing Nagaland team to the final. Despite their efforts to equalise the deficit goals, IMVFA failed to match their Nagaland counterpart.During the match, referee Shanta booked Ksh Sarat of IMVFA for commiting a dangererous faul to a Nagaland player.

IMPHAL, May 7: The troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(south) launched a search operation in the Lamlai area on the May 7 and recovered a Carbine Machine gun with magazine, 9mm pistol with magazine, five live rounds of 9mm, 26 live rounds of AK, one AK magazine, one round catch and six Electronic detonators, stated an official release.In yet another incident, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(south) along with lady police representatives launched operation in Khudengthabi area on May 6 and apprehended two individuals with banned wildlife products from a Maruti van with Regd. No MN-01W-1840, heading towards Moreh added the release.It has further identified the perpetrators as Kapaine, 29, d/o Sub (retd.) Sainee and Asha Empfuthmai, 35, d/o Fakhoto, both from Maipethu, Senapati. Fourteen deer horns and two mobile phones were recovered from them who were later handed over to Customs officials, it added.

For UAYC M Dinapal scored two goals while Kh Ruhikanta and M Mirpal scored one goal each. In the second ground match, YCCIC defeated SYUC by 6-3 goals. IMPHAL, May 6: A dead body of a newly born baby was found abandoned by passersby from the eastern gate of the temporary market shed of Khwairamband Bazar this early morning.
The corpse of the baby was later picked up by a team of Imphal City police this morning at around 7.30 am and kept at the RIMS morgue for post mortem.

IMPHAL, May 6: Manipur defeated Bihar by 4-1 in their first encounter in the 65th edition of the Santosh trophy football tournament today. The tournament is being held at Shivsagar, Assam.
Manipur is grouped with Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar in the cluster III preliminary round league.
Santosh opened goal account for Manipur in the 35th minute while Tiken increased the margin to 2-0 just before the half time whistle blows.
Later in the second half, Nabakumar consolidate Manipur’s position by netting in third goal while Nilakumar sealed the victory for Manipur by scoring fourth goal in the 76th minute.Manipur next play Andaman & Nicobar on May 8.

IMPHAL, May 6:  In a press release, the Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy Repertory’s ‘Bidai Abhisap’ will be shown in Dhaka on May 8 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranth Tagore.  It is sponsored by the Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi under Indo-Bangladesh Cultural Exchange Programme. The much appreciated dance-drama is based on Tagore’s poem of the same title and translated in Manipuri by the renowned theatre-director, Ratan Thiyam, choreographed by N.Amusana Devi, Sr.Production Asst.
The show in Dhaka will be the seventh show including two shows in Santiniketan and Kolkata, it further added. It further mentions that a five member team of Pung Cholom artists will depart for Ethiopia on May 13.

IMPHAL, May 6: Hockey Union, Lairikyengbam Leikai defeated YAC Yaiskul by 10-0 in the 35th mens state league hockey being held at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
W Chitrasen, ch Reshikanta, Ch Dayananda, W Johny and Th Roshankumar were goal scorers for HU.
HU got five penalty corner while YAC got only two in the match.
In another match of the day, COSMO Wangkhei beat rival MEIRAA by 2-0. Bronson and L Sanajaoba scored for COSMO.

IMPHAL, May 6: The 6th edition of the Manipur State League football will be competed by only 10 clubs as no Clubs has applied for filling up two Clubs relegated based on the league table of the 5th Manipur state league.
Executive council of the AMFA has decided to fix the number of Clubs for the 6th MSL to 10 only with no fresh selectio.
The AMFA executive council meet held today also decided that the principle of relegation o two teams and selection/promotion of two teams to replace the relegated two clubs will maintain and continue.

IMPHAL, May 6: Manager’s meeting of the participating teams in the selection competition of the Manchester United Tournament will be held on May 8 at 4pm at the AMFA office.
A AMFA release said selection competition will be held at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium from May 9.
In the meantime, AMFA has assigned Ng Brojendra Singh as convenor of the competition for the selection of one club to participate in the ManU tournament to be held at Pune, Maharastra from May 16.
On the other hand, altogether eight match officials have been assigned to conduct matches of the selection competition. They are Ksh Saratchandra, N Ibungo, L Tarun, Y Ingobi, K Mosses, Amarjit, A Boren, Th Seityajit and E Premjoy Singh.
