IMPHAL May 20: The audition for talent search show “Explore me” which was scheduled to be conducted at Bheigyachandra open air theatre on May 26, was held on May 19 at the Indoor stadium Khuman Lampak, Imphal said a press release by the secretary general,L.Rojit Meitei of Vision De Socio Upliftment Association, Heirok, Manipur. 30 participants were selected, as stated previously, during the audition, the release added. IMPHAL May 20: In an interactive session with village authorities and villagers was organized by 17 Assam Rifles of  10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) on May 19 at Tolloi, the release said. IMPHAL May 19: The result of the drawing and painting competition held in connection with the International Day of Biodiversity, which was organized by office of Biodiversity Board, Imphal, Government of Manipur has been declared.

In Group 1(class I to V), Sh. Santosh Singh from Kakching Wairi Ningthou Pareng, studying in Class V at Kakching Wairi High School got the 1st prize.

In Group 2 (class VI to XII), Sh. Asem Indrajit from Oinam Sawombung Awang Leikai studying in IX at The Brilliant Public School got the first prizes.

A prize distribution ceremony would be held on May 22 at Manipur Orchid Preservation Centre, Khongampat. The Students should reach the venue at 8.30 am I school uniform along with their teachers/ parents.

IMPHAL, May 19: Manipur`™s hope of entering semi final of the Santosh Trophy came alive today with a 2-2 draw against West Bengal.

In their second quarter final league encounter played today at JN stadium, Guwahati, Manipur managed to drew West Bengal 2-2 and both the teams are levelled at 4 points each though Bengal has better goal differences in the point table.

Manipur now need only one point to move into the semi final and they will play Chattisgarh on May 21.

A draw against Chattisgarh will put Manipur into the semi final, Manipur manager L Dinamani informed IFP over phone this evening.

Regarding today`™s match against the mighty West Bengal, Dinamani said Manipur was trailing by two goals till the 69th minute.

However, Manipur player fought back valiently and managed to reduce the goal difference with a 70th minute goal from Nabachandra. In the 82nd minute, Herojit made the equaliser and the match was completely under our control, Dinamani said adding Manipur got some three to four good chances to score in the dying minutes of the match but failed to convert any.

In another match of the same ground played today Chattisgarh defeated TN by 3-2 goals.

Earlier on May 17, Manipur defeated Tamilnadu (2-1) in their first encounter while West Bengal defeated Chattisgarh, 4-0.

Dinamani also expressed hope that Manipur could defeat Chattisgarh as the later is not a good team and Manipur players have more confidence than their opponent team.

IMPHAL, May 19: In a bizarre incident, a father attempted to murder his own son during an altercation between the two at Kangla Songomsnag village, of Imphal east district under Lamlai police station evening around 5.30 pm on May 18.

According to a source, father Longjam Abhiram, 48 of Kangla Shangomshang attacked his own son identified as Nabakumar alias Manaoba 22, yesterday evening while the son was resting on his bed using a hammer.

During the attack the son received serious head injuries and is stated to be admitted in a critical condition at the Shija hospital. The father is however reported to be absconding till the filling of this report.

In the meantime, in connection with the incident, the local residents of Kangla Shangomshang and elders of the family held a meeting at Kangla Shangomshang village today and decided that the absconded father will be expelled from the locality forever.

A case has been registered with the Lamlai police regarding the incident.

IMPHAL, May 19: ESU and TBSFA are to clash in the final of the 8th U-16 boys state level Th Birchandra Football Academy football tournament.

In the semi final matches played today ESU defeated THAU by a solitary goal while TBSFA defeated SKDC by 2-0 goals.

The first semi final played between ESU and THAU was evenly balanced but the Wangkhei team got the upper hand with a fine goal from N Olen in the 10th minute.

During the match, two of the ESU players were booked yellow card by referee Sh Suresh for their unsporting behaviours.

Unlike the first semi final, the second semi final was more or less dominated by TBSFA which scored one goal each in first and second session.

Both goals for TBSFA were scored by Fimate. He struck first goal in the 16th minute while the second goal came in the 60th minute.

The final match between ESU and TBSFA will be played on May 21 at Toubungkhok.

IMPHAL May 19: According to an official notification by the deputy director, Tourism, government of Manipur has stated that applications are invited from domiciled candidates of Manipur for admission to the 1st year of three years Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration during the Academic year 2011-2012 at the Institute of Hotel Management, Guwahati and Shillong.

The notification further added that the applicants should have passed 10+2 stage or equivalent examination in any stream with English as a compulsory subject and atleast 50% marks in aggregate and with 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

The candidates should not be more than 22years of age as on 1st july, 2011 relaxable upto 25 years for SC/ST candidates. The Applications should be submitted to the Deputy Director (Tourism), Manipur in plain paper enclosing (i) bio data, (ii) attested copies of 10 pass certificates (iii) mark sheets of (10+2) standard and (iv) 2 copies of attested pass port size photographs of the candidate on or before 10/6/2011. Total number of candidates to be nominated from Manipur is 13 (thirteen).

IMPHAL, May18: The Joint Action Committee on Khuga Dam Project in a press release has revealed that the indifferent attitude of the state with the much controversial Khuga Dam Project, has left the JAC with no choice but to put the impending matter before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Government of India.

Even after consistent trial by the JAC to resolve and expose the true picture and ground reality of the said project, the state Government is unmoved and chose to turn deaf ear when it was recently put forward to the concern leaders and Departments in New Delhi.

Subsequently, the JAC has unanimously resolved to put the matter before the National Human Rights Commission, it added.

IMPHAL, May 18: MEIRAA defeated SLO Bishnupur by a solitary goal whil MPSC defeated YAC by 5-1 goals in today`™s matches of the 35th mens and 17th womens state hockey league at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

In the first ground match of the day for 17th women`™s state hockey league MEIRAA, Bashikhong defeated SLO Bishnupur by 1-0 goal.

The all important goal for MEIRAA was scored by S Arunkumari Devi in the 34th minute.

In the match for the 35th mens state hockey league which was played as second ground match of the day, MPSC defeated YAC by 5-1 goals.

S Rabi scored three goals in the 1st, 5th and 11th minute while Th Birjit and P Jupiter scored in the 10th and 26th minutes of the match respectively to total MPSC`™s goal to five.

The only goal for YAC was scored by Sitaljit in the 14th minute.
