IMPHAL, April 30: A notice sent out by the Government of Manipur, Office of the Collector, Land Acquisition, Imphal East District, has notified that all pattadars/interested parties and the general public that the land which has been marked out at village no.2, Chandrapur, Imphal East for public purpose i.e. acquisition for construction of Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) had been acquired by the State Govt.

It also states that the order/award for payment of compensation of land has also been announced by the collector, land acquisition, Imphal East district and since acquisition proceedings have been completed and award for payment of compensation has been announced, the land has been taken over by the collector, Imphal East district under Section 16 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

It further informs all pattadars to collect their respective compensation after 1pm on all working days from the office of Lakshmikumar Singh, DC/Collector, Land Acquisition, Imphal East District, Manipur.

IMPHAL May 3: Visarev Investors Association in a press release by the convenor L Premananda has stated that a seminar cum public meeting will be held at GM Hall on April 5.

The release stated that the seminar will be attended by intellectuals and other state personalities as resource persons and will deliberate on the future course of action to be adopted by the association in order to recoup their investments. The release further stated that many individuals after perpetrating various pyramid schemes has absconded the state with ill gotten wealth, the association will pursue any means available to bring the culprits to book, the release said
The association appeals the investors to take part in the program.

IMPHL, May 11: The long drawn insurgency in the state over the past years has adversely affected the women & children the most. The economic status & independence of women has seen a sharp decline. A number of self help groups to improve the situation had sprung up over the past few years, however, the basics of functionary & knowledge to progress the idea ahead, was found wanting. With a view to enhance the economic status of rural women of Manipur in general & Churachandpur district in particular, the “Action for Women & Child Advancement (AWCA)” with its founder Ms Grace Zamnu, MDC had taken an initiative & organised a one day awareness training on Basics of Self Help Group to rural women of Churachandpur district on 11 May 11. The training event was jointly inaugurated by Brigadier Surendra Mehta, Commander 27 Sector AR & Mr Langkhanpao Guite, ADC Chairman, Churachandpur. There was a representation of 26 self help groups from the district in the training, in a press released.
The inaugural speech was given by the Commander. The training spanned over two sessions to include, “Invocation of the Self Help Groups(SHGs) & Training Programme”, viewing a documentary on SHGs & its importance, Book keeping & account balance, Credit & saving linkage to SHGs, Experience sharing, SHG for sustainable development of the rural people, & Discussion hour, it further added.

IMPHAL,May 25: With the Government failing to take any action with the memorandum submitted jointly by a number of organizations namely ZSUNA, Nungba Bazar Board, Pei (Thoubei) Nungba, Nungba Youth Organisation, on the immediate transfer of Kajaigai Gangmei, Jr MCS SDO/SDM/BDO, Nungba within one week, the organizations have resorted to a 24 hours blockade on NH -53 for all vehicular movements starting from the midnight of May 25 to the midnight of May26 as a first step of democratic agitation, according to a press release of the joint organizations.
It further added that the organizations should not be held responsible for any damage caused to vehicles during the blockade. However, medical, water supply, electricity, security do not come under the preview of the blockade, it maintained.

IMPHAL, June 8: The failure of concern contractors in executing construction of Nungei Ningthibikhong canal in proper manner has created panic amongst local villagers about an imminent flood during the rainy season.
This was disclosed by vice chairman of the Anti Social Activities Prevention Committee (ASAPC) Md. Ayubkhan during an inspection tour made today of the said canal.
Md. Ayubkhan further said the concern department had sanctioned Rs.15 crore for construction of Ningthibikhong but the present status of the canal nowhere near the total cost of construction.
He also appealed government to look into the matter in a short period in the interest of local people who are afraid of man made flood.
He also mentioned that the dam constructed by the Minor Irrigation department Sanasam disturb farmers of the area during the rainy session, and he appealed the government to shift this dam at a suitable place for the benefits of all farmer settling in bank of the canal.

IMPHAL June 14: Residents of the waterlogged areas lying under Khurai Assembly constituency were given relief by social activist Leisangthem Sushindro.

The activist with the help of members of Khurai Kendra Development Committee visited Khurai Laishram Leikai, Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Konsam Leikai and Khurai Chingangbam which remain inundated after rainfall since a month back.

The activist along with committee members using earthmovers carried out excavation works near Khurai Sajor Leikai Konsam Leirak and providing proper drainage flushed the rainwater towards the Kongba River.

The activist told mediapersons that the drainage will be effective in addressing the flood situation around the Khurai area which has adversely affected several fish farms, paddy fields and households.

IMPHAL, June 17: Assistant Engineer of PHED, Chandel notifies the general public that the Khumji Lok at Chandel district has been badly flooded due to heavy rainfall in the area since June 10. 

Large numbers of pipe support, anchor blocks have also been damaged thus affecting the normal supply of raw water to the main pipe and to the general public.

Repair works are going on which may be completed after about two weeks. Until the repair works are completed normal supply of water cannot be resumed. All are appealed to bear the hardship caused by the flood.

IMPHAL, June 30: Decrying the bomb attack at the residence of one executive engineer Thokchom Kesho yesterday, the local women folks under the aegis of Young Rising Star Club organized a sit-in-protest today at Kwakeithel Nganu Lampak community hall. 

Speaking to mediapersons, a lady protestor N Meena stated that the bomb attack should not have been carried out in a residential area where a large number of students reside in nearby rented houses.

She has demanded the concerned organization to make clarifications for such an attack and appealed to avoid such untoward incident in the future.

Meanwhile, family members of a businessman Longjam Jitenkumar, 56, of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai found a Chinese made hand grenade lying at his residence early morning today.
