IMPHAL July 25: Through the initiatives of several NGOs of Kumbi A/C several bags of fertilizers were distributed to farmers of Kumbi a/c this afternoon.

Karam Gyanenshwor, agent Ithai fertilizer said the fertilizer was distributed on the subsidized rate of Rs. 450 per bag as per decided by the government.  He added that the fertilizers were acquired with the help of other agents under fertilizers control order act of 1985 for the benefit of local  farmers keeping in view of the current situation relating to fertilizers. While briefing the media persons that were present during the distribution of fertilizers, he appealed the government to review in due course of time as the existing subsidized rate of Rs.420 lacks feasible as the agents have to pay extra charges for  transportation over existing subsidized rate.

The fertilizers were given one bag per farmer to 190 farmers at a simple function held at Naodakhong community hall situated in Kumbi a/c today.

Later he mentioned that such initiatives will be undertaken for the welfare of farmers’ communities at other nook and corners of Kumbi a/c.

IMPHAL, Sept 2: Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) has strongly reacted to the rebuttal of PRO PIB (Defence Wing) on the allegations of assaulting and molesting women blockade supporters by the personnel of 43 AR at Gamgiphai near Motbung on August 30.

While visiting the seven injured women at CMC Hospital today, vice-president of SHDDC, Tongkam Lupheng told media persons that the matter has already been subsided after due apology from the AR authorities to pay fines as per the Kuki customary law. However, the rebuttal of the PRO negating the incident is quite misleading.

Such double-standard attitude will never fulfill the real objective of the Assam Rifles who claim as “friends of hills people”, he averred.

IMPHAL, Sept 15 (NNN): Refuting strongly to the allegations made by Village Authority Board of Irang Part-1 that chairman of Manedara Irang village Puney Prasad Poudel was assaulted on September 10 by Ch Tabamwi who is the secretary of Thonglang Atongba village located along the I.T Road.

According to Thonglang Atongba Youth Club (TAYC) president Dokpipou, there was a mere argument between one Chamlamdin of Thonglang Atongba village and Puney Prasad Poudel on minor matter but there was never a physical assault as alleged by Village Authority Board of Irang Part-1. The TAYC president advised the Village Board of Irang Part-1 not to cook up stories as it may pave room for communal flare up. TAYC president Dokpipou while narrating on the September 10 incident said that actually it was Ch Tabamwi who was pacifying both Puney Prasad and Chamlamdin not to argue on such small matter. Dokpipou then expressed that it was unnecessary for the part of Puney Prasad`s party to have reported such a minor matter to the police and the 10th Dogra Regiment and also to have gone to the media for publication. The Thonglang Atongba Youth Club cautions that if the Village Authority Board of Irang Part-1 is to maintain peace, it should avoid creating a Himalaya out of a small hill.
