IMPHAL, Aug 10: In a positive step to conserve the ecological balance and preserve the diminishing reserve forest range of Imphal valley, illegal land encroachers at Iroisemba (Sadar West Range) of Langol Reserved Forest were evicted by officials of the Department of Forest accompanied by large number of security personnel this morning.

IMPHAL, Jul 5: Rampant deforestation in the State has immense effect on the environ-ment. Concerned district administrations in the hill districts have been instructed to take measures to stop cutting down of trees for poppy and ganja cultivations in the hill areas, and to take up large scale afforestation drive, said Addi-tional Chief Secretary (Forest) Sambhu Singh during an interaction with media persons at DIPR complex today.
