Imphal, Aug 16: A 49-member zendokai karate team from Manipur left Imphal today to take part in the National Open Zendokai Karate Champion-ship that will be held from Aug 17 to 19 at the Indoor Sport Hall, Polo Ground in Shillong.
The team include 45 karatekas, out of which 25 are male and 17 female, and four officials including RK Lansa-na (male coach), S Kanabala (female coach), Dr M Ibom-cha and Md Mujibur Rahman.

Imphal, Aug 2: Thokchom Roji Chanu left Imphal today for the 4th South Asian Cadet, Junior and Senior Karate Championship, which is organised by the South Asian Karate Federation and hosted by the Sri Lanka Karate Federation under the Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka.
The championship will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from August 3 to 6.
Selected by the Karate Association of India during the Sub-junior Cadet, Junior and Under-21 National Karate Championship that was held in May in New Delhi. Thokchom Roji will represent India in the 48kg junior girls kumite.
A junior karateka of the Manipur Amateur Karate-do Association, Thokchom Roji is a daughter of Th Sanamani and Echan and hails from Patsoi Part IV.

Imphal, Jul 19: The All Manipur Gi-Toku-Kai Karate-Do Association felicitated the medal-winning karatekas and officials who brought home laurels from the recently concluded 5th ISKF Open national Karate Championship 2017 that was held from July 14 to 16 in Guwahati.
The award winning karate-kas included: (i) Ngan-thoiba Irengbam – Gold in sub-junior category (30kg, 8-9 year); (ii) Yohen Naorem – Gold in sub-junior category (45kg, 12-13 year); (iii) Balkrishna Yumnam – Gold in senior men’s category (50kg, 18+ years); and (iv) N Bundali – Silver in senior women’s category (50kg, 18+ years)
The officials in the team included Laimayum Jotin-kumar (assistant chief ins- tructor) and L Surjit.
