IMPHAL, January 7: The Awang Sekmai Nongthonband Youth Club called a press conference today in connection with its road block imposed along the road connecting National Highway no 2 with the Sekmai Gas Bottling Plant since January 1 decrying the government`™s failure to act on its assurance to repair the road.
The road block had resulted in around 80 loaded gas bullets remaining stranded inside the LPG bottling plant.
The agitation will continue until the road is repaired, the club`™s spokesperson told media persons.
He said the road has been blocked for a week till today, however, the government continues to remain silent even though it was taken up only after the government to act on its assurance.
He continued that last May, both the Chief Minister and the local MLA had assured to look into their demand, which is yet to be fulfilled.
The government`™s silence on the issue is in total disregard of the public`™s emotions, he continued.
The club members also declared that they will never meet government officials and representatives until the road repairing work is started.
The Chief Minister and the local MLA should bear all responsibilities for any untoward incident arising out of the issue, they warned
