IMPHAL, March 1: The Kangleipak Communist Party Military Council KCP (MC) in a statement issued by the outfit’s secretary Military Affairs, Lanheiba Meitei, has call on the people and as well as the representatives for a joint participation to ensure the implementation the Inner Line Permit system (ILP) to save threatened people of the land due to migrant influx and flush out migrants from the state.

It recalled that the ILP was removed in November, 18, 1950, by the then commissioner and an agent of India, Himat Singh.

It said that since the removal of the ILP the migrant influx has adversely disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of indigenous people of the state. There has been many instances of these migrants carrying out indecent and immoral act to the local girls and woman of the state.

It observed that remaining silent spectator with the concept that “it had never occurred to my family would be wrong” adding it stress the need for unanimous stand of the people on the issue in order to prevent it in the interest of the future generation.

It said that the need of the hour is to organized various activities like “panel discussion with representatives from senior citizens and intellects on account of foreigner entry into Kangleipak, to organized “a debate competition on inner line permit is required in Kangleipak” for the awareness of the student communities and refresh the issue, at the same time organized a community level open discussion on the matter and take unanimous resolution for the need to implement the Inner Line Permit besides presurising the concerned authority to table the issue in the Assembly.

NEW DELHI, March 1 :Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Assam and West Bengal will go to polls in April and May in the biggest popularity contest since the 2009 Lok Sabha election, it was announced on Tuesday.

Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi said some 150 million voters will be eligible to take part in the elections that will begin April 4 and conclude May 10.

The vote count will take place May 13, Quraishi told reporters at his office. While Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will have a single phase polling on April 13, Assam will see balloting on April 4 and 11.

Polling in West Bengal will be spread over six phases — April 18, 23 and 27 and May 3, 7 and 10.

The April-May battle will dominantly involve the Left, the Congress and regional parties like the Trinamool Congress, the Asom Gana Parishad, the DMK and the AIADMK.

One of the keenest contests is expected in West Bengal, where the Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), which has been in power since 1977, faces its most serious challenge.

The Left Front`s biggest threat comes from the Trinamool Congress of Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee who has vowed to unseat the Marxists and form a government.

In Kerala, the coalitions led by the Left and Congress will take on each other. The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu will lead its alliance against a resurgent AIADMK.
