Imphal, Jan 13: Local people of Wangjing Tekcham Leikai burnt dawn a Borelo bearing registration number NL 02c/4868 as the four persons coming in the vehicle threatened the Meira Paibis by showing double barrel gun last night around 10.10 p.m.
As the persons threatened the Meira Paibis the people chased the vehicle and could arrest the four persons.
These arrested were identified as S. Bimolchand (44) Kairenbikhok Mamang Leikei, S. Manibabu (58) Wangjing Hodamba Mamang Leikai, Naorem Sanjoy (33), Wangjing Canteen Lampak and T. Ratan (40) member Wangjing Tentha Zilla Parishad. The double barrel gun belongs to Ratan. He was hospitalized as local people assaulted him while the remaining three were handed over to police along with the vehicle.The angry crowd later burnt dawn the Bolero aroung 10.40 p.m.

Tension prevailed in and around Nambol Primary Health Centre following the death of a patient identified as Sougrakpam Thambalsana (52), Irom Meijrao Maning today.
The woman who complained of chest pain was rushed to the health centre but due to lack of doctor’s attention, the patient breathed his last.
The parties of patient demanded to produce the concerned doctor however timely arrival of police could brought the situation under control. The body was sent to RIMS morgue.

10 Assam Rifles of Loktak Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division provided medical aid to road accident victim of Noney yesterday. Mr Pundongai Kamei aged 58 yrs, Jungthanpou kamei aged 34, Jungailung Kamei aged 20 yrs and a resident of Noney had sustained severe head injury and a cut lacerated wound over facial region. He was given medical treatment by unit medical officer and the team of Medical Staff of 10 Assam Rifles.

Two militants were apprehended by troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in the area and apprehended one MNRF cadre on 07 Jan 12. The apprehendee was identified as No.2952(Batch No.2007) Sgt Major Lukarhm Thoy alias Pambai alias Thouyanba,19 yrs, s/o Lukrham Naba, r/o Oksu Mamang Leikai. 01x Detonator,01x fired case of Lathode and 03x live rounds of AK 47 has been recovered from the apprehendee.

A bomb was exploded near the Congress office of Wangkhei AC by police personnel.
A bomb was exploded at the residence of one Taorem Dipak (41) of Ngakraba Leirak, Yumnam Leikai this morning around 5.30 a.m. Another hand grenade was also later Found around 6.30 a.m.

A woman received injuries when some persons fired at her near SK High School, Ngairangbam this afternoon around 12.30 p.m.
The injured was identified as Khwairakpam Jamuna (32), Sagoltongba Chongtham Leirak.
The incident took place when she was riding an Activa along with one L. Nanao Devi (27) younger sister of Yurembam Gram Panchayat Pradhan.
Jamuna received injuries in the left thigh.

The special enforcement team, excise seized the liquors in a raid from the shop of Chandu Thangal Bazar.
A salesman Rajesh was also arrested from the shop, said K. Joykumar, assistant commissioner of excise.
It is learnt that some persons are organizing party or open bar. Foreign liquors running army or check forces of supplied the same to the people. He appealed all to stop it.

A two year old boy was found dead at Imphal river near Laphupat Tera this morning. He was identified as Ardish. Sources said some persons took the gold worn by the boy and threw the body to the river. The boy’s uncle reportedly brought the boy to witness a Thabal Chongba.

Police arrested a worker of K. NInghemjao, an aspirant candidate of Congress (I) in the ensuing state assembly election from Andro A/C along with a nine mm pistol at the gate of congress Bhavan this morning around 10.10 a.m. The incident took place when the aspirant candidate along with his workers were coming to congress Bhavan to attend the 126th foundation day of INC today. A bomb weighing about 3.5 kg and remote control IED bomb was found wrapper in a cartoon box at the road median of Ghari this morning around 11.40 a.m.
A team of 18th Sikh Regiment found the bomb. In a similar incident, some unknown persons gifted a Chinese hand grenade at the residence of one Ranjan Sanasam ( 57) Rechu Lampak today around 2.16 p.m.
Ranjan is at present serving as executive engineer (EE) at engineering cel, Manipur University.

The apprehendee was identified as No 306 Moirangthem Sanjit Singh alias Santosh, s/o Moirangthem Ibotombi Singh, r/o Khangbok Khunou Leikai, Thoubal. 01 x 9mm Pistol and 03 x live rounds of 9 mm were recovered from the apprehendee who alongwith recoveries were handed Kakching Police station.A combined force of 15th AR and Thoubal Police commandos apprehended a cadre of KYKL from Wangjing Bazar last evening around four p.m.
The apprehandee was identified as Mayengbam Premjit alias Hemanta (26) Pangaltabi Awang Leikai.
