IMPHAL, Jan 16 : The U-19 boys representing Manipur in the 63rd National School Games Belt Wrestling Championship emerged team champions today while the girls’ team were able to finish runners up.
The championship was held at Hyderabad under the aegis of School Games Federation of India. The boys’ team bagged 2 gold, 2 silver while the girls’ team collected 3 gold and 2 silver to emerge champions and runners up in this championship.

Senapati, Aug 4: ADC Senapati acknowledged the announcement of the State Government to recognise the indigenous wrestling cham-pionship as a State-level sports event from next edition.
In a statement, ADC Chairman ML Markson attributed the success of its recently concluded event to the support and coperation of the public, volunteers, officials, villagers and parti- cipants and churches and civil bodies and participants, during the three-day ADC Raising Day Indegenious Wrestling Championship. The ADC also expressed gratitude to everybody involved in the event.

Imphal, Jul 30: As part of its 45th Raising Day celebration, the Autonomous District Council Senapati is organising the first ever state-level open, two-day indigenous wrestling championship with support from the Government of Manipur at the mini stadium of the district. The champion-ship features 121 wrestlers from all over Manipur and is held in two categories: one under and another above 65kg.
Speaking as the chief guest, ML Markson, chairman, ADC Senapati, appreciated the Government of Manipur for helping organise the championship at the state level. Markson mentioned that it will help in preserving and promotion of dying traditional sports while adding that the ADC is committed to work for the welfare of the people.
The vice chairman of the ADC Senapati, Hingba John and all the district-level officers of Senapati also attended the opening function of the two-day sporting fest.
