IMPHAL, May 5: FIFA official Eric Gordon Harrison, who arrived in Imphal to review ground work for installation of artificial turf football ground at Khuman Lampak was left shocked on seeing slow progress of work.
The FIFA official along with an official of the AIFF visited the NSA ground at Khuman Lampak and they were dissapointed at the progress of the work and the quality of the work.
The upcoming artificial turf football ground is being constructed at the National Sports Academy ground with the funding of the international football body and it will have to develop as international standard.
The FIFA official Eric Gordon Harrison arrived in the state this afternoon and inspected the installation of the artificial turf football ground at around 1pm.
Speaking to mediapersons at the sideline of the inspection, he stated that foundation of the pitch is not hard enough and that quality has not been maintained in laying the foundation of the pitch.
He was left disappointed as he could not find any progress in the installation process since his last visit to the site recently.
Regarding the problems faced in the installation process, he stated that according to the contractors responsible for the installation process the present issues in the state including the present strike of the stone clusters has slowed the progress of the installation.
The official also inspected the surrounding drainage and the fencing of the academy which is being constructed to be made of international class.
