GUWAHATI, Mar 1 (NNN): A fleet of Sukhois was formally inducted at Chabua, the Indian Air Force`s easternmost base in Assam on Tuesday. The induction was done through a ceremonial fly-past by three SU 30 MKI aircrafts.
Air Marshal KK Nohwar, AOC-in-C of Eastern Air Command, Air Commodore Mrigendra Singh, AOC of Chabua Air Force Station, senior army and air force officers as well as civil dignitaries attended the induction ceremony.
`The Vijaynagar runway is being repaired and will soon open to operations of fixed-wing aircraft for better air maintenance,` said Air Marshal Nohwar.
Vijaynagar is on the southeastern tip of Arunachal Pradesh bordering China and Myanmar. The IAF periodically drops essentials for locals and ex-defence personnel settled there to keep a watch over the frontier.
