Imphal, Dec 24: Christmas will be celebrated tomorrow. The Vice- President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari has greeted the people on joyous occasion of Christmas. In his message he has said that Christmas is an occasion to imbibe the divine teachings of Lord Jesus Christ and spread joy and happiness. The festival also signifies the ideals of brotherhood, love and compassion.
Gurbachan Jagat , Governor said in a message said, “It gives me immense pleasure in greeting the people of Manipur, and specially our Christian brethren, on the auspicious and joyous occasion of Christmas, 201 1 .
Lord Jesus was born to build a new world order based on peace, justice and equality of mankind. In celebrating His birth, which is universally known as Christmas, we, besides paying our obeisance to this outstanding apostle of peace, should rededicate ourselves to the ideals, principles and values espoused by Him. His message of love, mercy, forgiveness, benevolence, compassion and sacrifice, has become increasingly important at the present situation, when the atmosphere is polluted with enmity and hatred between man and man and nation and nation. This is man made. There is no enmity between soul and soul. Let the principles enunciated and message preached by Jesus Christ, guide mankind to build a prosperous society and a peaceful world.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi said in a message, : “I convey my warm greetings and good wiches to the people of Manipur especially our Christian brethren on the joyous occasion of Christmas, which is celebrated with gaiety and fervour, to mark the birth of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ showed mankind the path of compassion, tolerance, love, brotherhood and sacrifice. His message has the power to lift the human race from ignorance, violence and moral decay to a life of peace, virtue and spiritual
fulfillment. His teachings have a great relevance in today’s world and should inspire us all.
May Christmas fill our lives with joy, peace, love and prosperity.
Gaikhangam, Congress President, Th Meinya, MP, Lt Gen Dalbir Singh, AVSM, VSM, GOC 3 Corps greeted the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Christmas. Maj Gen Bijoy, Brig HPS Pall, Offg IGAR (South) also greeted the people.
A pre Christmas candle light service organized by Manipur Baptist convention centre church Imphal was held tonight from five p.m. to seven p.m.
The Christmas celebration will also be held tomorrow from seven am. To 10 am.
