Imphal, Jan 23: Senapati Brigade of the Red Shield Division apprehended five cadres of various UG organizations in past 48 hours. Troops of 5 Assam Rifles apprehended an active NSCN (IM) cadre from Senapati market on the night of 22/23 Jan 12 and recovered a .32mm Pistol and live round from him. The apprehendee revealed that he was operating in the area with the intent of disrupting the forthcoming assembly elections. The cadre was handed over to PS Imphal West. 43 Assam Rifles of the Red Shield Division apprehended a KNF (P) cadre identified as Letkholun Kipgen from general area Shantipur while he was carrying out extortion. Four extortion slips were recovered from the cadre. He was later handed over to PS Sekmai.
In other operations 10 DOGRA apprehended two ZRO cadres from Leimakhong. The cadres identified as SS Asst Director Satsei, r/o Harouthel and Lamneijang Vaiphei, r/o Lilanwaiphei were apprehended while they were carrying out extortion in the Leimakhong market.
The apprehended cadres were handed over at PS Sekmai. In yet another operation 10 DOGRA apprehended an NSCN (IM) civil wing cadre identified as SS Raja Peyu Ch Chimpo from village T/Waichong while he was carrying out extortion. He was later handed over to PS Imphal West.
Meanwhile discovering the movement of UG cadres at Kairak, troops of 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in the area and apprehended one PLA cadre on 22 Jan 12. The apprehendee was identified as No 3050,Maibam Elomba Meitei alias Chalamba,21 yrs,s/o Moibam Plando Meitei,r/o Awang Shekmai Leikai and was handed over to Kakching Police station.
